The Silver Thieves 

I used
the last of my faith
and popcorn strings
to decorate
the Christmas tree
last winter.

Afterward,
the needles
crept off the pine
and into the night,
taking all the silverware
with them.

Two weeks later,
I received
a postcard 
from Mexico.
